How is calorie needs calculated?
The calculation is based on the Mifflin-St Jeor formula, which is considered the most accurate method for estimating basal metabolic rate (BMR). Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is determined by multiplying with an activity factor (PAL value).
If you provide your body fat percentage, the Katch-McArdle formula is used instead. This takes lean body mass into account and delivers more accurate results when body fat percentage is known.
